I like to hear my client’s stories about why they decided to go natural. I’ve heard everything from horror stories with severe hair loss to those just experimenting because they see the growth other’s have experienced.
Why did you go natural? Hoping for longer hair? Do you need to eliminate your dry scalp? See how long you could grow your hair? Because you must choose between a relaxer and color? Why did you go natural? More than likely you were moved to go natural for one or many reasons.

Why did you go natural? To grow for longer hair? Healthier hair? Get rid of dry scalp? It's the best option since you want to wear color? Not really sure? You're starting to see how well your sister's hair is growing since she stopped relaxing? More than likely you were moved to go natural for one or many reasons. Is your hair healthier than it was before? Is your scalp feeling less itchy? Has your hair grown faster? I want to revisit the conversation about the goals you set for your natural hair journey. Have you found a way to evaluate your progress? Are you happy with your progress? Do you have someone to keep you motivated along the way? Here is one thing to consider as you set goals for your natural hair journey. Your hair has several characteristics that determine its appearance. Some you can control and some you cannot because they are inherently part of your DNA. I hear women complain all the time about how they don’t want to know how to care for their own hair. Would you put all your trust in someone else to be responsible for your finances? Can you manage your health well by simply showing up at the doctor every 6 months? A healthy balance for natural hair care is somewhere between your relationship with your trainer and doctor. How often you see each depends on your health, commitment to your health, and how well you do your part in between visits. Both professionals work with you, but results depend on your daily habits. Your trainer can’t work out for you. She teaches you ways to lose weight and build muscle. The responsibility of eating right and exercising are yours to manage. For more insight on learning to love your natural hair, read my blog post "The truth about transitioning." The time for resolutions is approaching. As you set goals for your natural hair journey factor in your physical health, mental health, and spiritual health. Think about how your daily habits support these areas. Keep a journal with your hair care practices and products. Pay attention to how your hair feels during different seasons so you can make changes if necessary. Reflect on why you went natural in the first place. Is your hair showing the results you expected? Sign up to join Curls Night Out if you could use help to grow and manage your natural hair. We meet online one Sunday each month to discuss ways to keep our natural hair healthy. 'til next time, Ebonee
