Check out my easy vegetable soup recipe. oil your hair and scalpDepending on your style, drizzle a little or a lot of olive oil in the palm of your hand and work it through your hair and on your scalp for added shine and protection. My skin and hair loves pure olive oil. Doing this step before you shampoo is called pre-pooing. Jamaican black castor oil, pure castor oil, and coconut oil are good options for pre-pooing. Apply a generous amount of oil directly to your scalp and massage. Apply heat or steam for best results. Leave on for 30 minutes or longer. Shampoo as usually when ready. Oil cleansers are effective because oils remove dirt without stripping our scalp of beneficial oils causing dryness. take an oil supplementMy favorite is Dr. Carlson’s Cod Liver Oil with Lemon flavor. Cod liver oil is one of the best sources of omega 3 fatty acids. It is also high in vitamins A and D, both of which are beneficial to our skin. It also plays a role in our hormonal health which can have major effects on our hair. Cod liver oil is available at health food stores and grocery stores with a health food section. I prefer to take it in liquid form, not a capsule. Dr. Oz recommends you take oil supplements in the morning. The taste is not too bad. I wash it down with something flavorful like warm tea or a delicious smoothie. I guarantee you’ll see and feel a difference in your skin and hair. protect your curls from rough winter fabricsFluffy coats and hats are a must if you live in a place that gets cold. Put a satin liner under you hats and around your neck to prevent your hair from rubbing against rough fabrics. You should wrap your hair at night and or sleep on a satin pillow to preserve moisture. To combat dry skin and hair during winter months is to go above and beyond your normal routine. It’s good to have a several options at your disposal so you don’t get bored.
