Happy Fall Ya’ll! I am all about keeping your hair healthy so that it looks great without you depending on a ton of products. Over the next 4 weeks I’m going to share some fall hair care tips that you can easily incorporate into your lifestyle that will minimize breakage, increase moisture and keep your natural hair looking and feeling great during the cold season which can be stressful on your mane if you do not take preventive measures to avoid damage. The first fall hair care tip is to drink water. We can all use a reminder to drink water, especially now that true signs of fall have arrived. It is harder for me to remember to drink water when it s cooler outside. It's so easy to reach for a warm drink. I don’t have to go into the billions of reasons why water is essential for your body to thrive. When your body is healthy, it is reflected in your hair. If you suffer from chronically dull dry hair, pay attention to how much water you drinking. Are you drinking enough? You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 150 pounds you should drink 75 ounces of water each day. When I was doing research for this post I found a study showing that when our bodies detect the slightest level of dehydration our brain function is compromised. Our brains can even begin to shrink. Wow, that is major! The damage can happen even before we feel thirsty. Our bodies need a lot of water to function well. As a professional natural hairstylist, I am familiar with some of the best products available for keeping our hair healthy, but nothing compares to an overall healthy lifestyle. I want to encourage you to take small steps to develop habits that are going to keep your body and hair healthy for the long run. Drinking at least the recommended amount of water each day will help your hair grow healthier. The more water you drink the more water your body will desire and the habit will become easier. So hang in there. I am a mom of three rambunctious boys. Every day is a challenge for me to drink enough water, especially when my youngest won't let me be great while I shoot photos for you. I know from experience that drinking lots of water keeps my scalp hydrated so my hair grows in shiny. My scalp isn't itchy once winter comes along. My hair doesn't break easily. Below I listed a few benefits specifically for your hair along with 7 tips to keep you on track with staying hydrated. Benefits for your Natural hair
