Honey has a few qualities that make it an excellent addition to your natural hair care kit. It is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture, helping your curls fight frizz. Read along for a few ways you can use honey to prevent frizz and make your curls shine.
Honey is one of many kitchen staples that can be used to enhance your natural hair and skin. For hair it can generate a silky shine and soft curls that are more manageable. Because of its antibacterial qualities, I like to use it directly on scalp to alleviate any dryness or itching. Raw honey is known to protect the body against bacteria, and parasites when used internally Here are four ways you can use honey on your natural hair:
1. Deep condition
Mix honey with conditioner and let it sit for 30 minutes or longer. Steam for increased softness and shine.
2. Dry Scalp treatment
To eliminate dry itchy scalp, massage honey into your scalp while conditioning.
3. daily moisturizer
This is great way to retain moisture for those who like to do wash and go styling. Wetting hair everyday can lead to dryness and a dull appearance. In a 4oz spray bottle mix a tablespoon of honey. Shake well to blend. Spray on hair daily instead of plain water.
4. retain length
During the conditioning process of your regimen, apply honey directly to your ends, wrap in plastic and process under a steamer or with a hooded dryer. If you don’t have access to either, leave it on longer. I recommend up to 24 hours.
